Louisiana Highpoint - Driskill Mountain
November 8, 2000
535 feet

Luckily, the rain subsided for our hike to the highpoint
Tammy and I hiked this highpoint during a tornado watch. The dirt road was very muddy and reminded us of the red clay of Georgia. We found the highpoint with no problems thanks to the excellent directions in all of the highpoint books (we have 3 highpoint books now and consult them all at each highpoint). Once into the woods, the hike was nice. We left a short note in the book at the summit since it started raining again. Someone had been there earlier on this day.

On the way back, we visited the cemetary. I photographed this tombstone because it was so interesting. Later, we made an attempt to find the Bonnie and Clyde memorial marker, but cut our search short because of time. We were trying to do Arkansas in the same day (a better idea in the summer when the days are longer). Arkansas was a night highpoint (our second one).
