The summit sign for Mt. Katahdin (also the end of the Appalachian Trail). We saw a thru-hiker complete right after these pictures.

Winds gusty enough to inflate your pants.

Mt. Katahdin (Baxter Peak) is the highpoint of Maine and the end of the Appalachian Trail. The Hunt Trail (part of the Appalachian Trail) route is a 10.4 mile hike involved a good amount of scrambling (enough that I went through a pair of gloves). There are a couple places that involve light rock climbing. Very little of this route is open trail, with most involving rocks of some variety. With all of the scrambling, it took us 11 hours round-trip.

The view as you approach the summit. Maybe an hour left to go...
