Tennessee Highpoint - Clingman's Dome

Clingman's Dome is a fairly easy highpoint. Of course, it took us 3 tries to make it because the last 7 miles of road to get here is closed if there is the slightest hint of ice (so we couldn't get here in February and April). From the parking lot it is a fairly short walk (very similar to Georgia's highpoint). You would have thought it was a major trek from the people laying at the side of the trail, catching their breath... A lot of people were at this highpoint, but not many that seemed to be in shape. The tower is pretty cool- the ramp to the "flying saucer" does a 270 degree turn. The top was very crowded as well. The beginning of the trail had some pretty rock formations. We didn't get any pictures of the very top since our camera batteries were dead. After getting new batteries, we came back to the trail to get a couple pictures... We left here to go camping.
