Virginia Highpoint - Mount Rogers

Virginia's highpoint, Mount Rogers, is situated on the Appalachian Trail (actually, just off of it on a very short blue blaze trail) and is best accessed from Grayson Highlands Park. The park is very nice and has some nice views on the way to Mount Rogers. Be careful as there are lots of horse trails in the area which caused us to do some extra hiking. We made it to the summit later in the day. We managed to still get back to the car before sundown.

The trail is very rocky in this part of Virginia, but has some neat sections like the section to the left where it goes through a cave for a short stretch. Overall the park is very nice and we'd like to return again and spend more time here.
